Nintendo has announced Paper Mario: Color Splash is will be coming to the Wii U in 2016.

The game is themed around colour and paint, and set in a new location called Prism Island. Not all is paradise on the island however, as colour is being slowly drained away. Paper Mario embarks on a quest to restore the island to its former glory.

Paper Mario will have a new Paint Hammer that can restore colour to anything including bushes, walls, and even colourless Toads. Battles are fought by colouring cards on the Gamepad’s touchscreen, and then flicking them to start the battle. There are special cards which unleash devastating attacks – fans may recognise the giant fan attack from Sticker Star.
