New Content for Overwatch – Details from BlizzCon

November 6, 2016

Blizzard today revealed a whole pile of new content for Overwatch at their annual exhibition BlizzCon 2016. A new hero, new maps, a whole new arcade mode, as well as other minor updates, fans of Overwatch were seen jumping up and down over the announcements. We take a look at what’s in store for the new content for Overwatch, and when players can expect to get their hands on it.

Sombra is the all new hero joining the playable character list in the new content for Overwatch. She has been teased as a potential new hero since earlier in the year, and now we can reveal that she will be in the next public test servers next week, and making her way into the full game in the next major update. Blizzard released a six minute video showcasing Sombra in an animated short film. You can watch it below:

The new update will also feature other new content for Overwatch including a new map set in an Arabia location called Oasis, and a new arcade mode where players can face off against each other in 1v1 and 3v3 duels, similar to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft arena mode. There will be unique loot in arcade mode that is unavailable in other parts of the game, so sharpen your skills and prepare yourselves for some of the toughest fighting yet.

Another new map was also announced which Blizzard stated was made entirely for use in arcade mode. The map is titled Eco Point, and all new content for Overwatch that has been announced at BlizzCon 2016 is expected to be released over the next two months. Blizzard also announced a new Oni skin for the hero Genji.

Blizzard then introduced the Overwatch League, which is basically ranked leaderboards. They released a trailer which kind of reminded us of Victoria Bitter commercials. You can get it any old how. Matter of fact, we’ve got it now – you can watch the trailer for the Overwatch league below:
