Operation Skull Rain Expansion Coming to Rainbow Six: Siege

July 27, 2016

The newest expansion for Rainbow Six: Siege, titled Operation Skull Rain, will be dropping on consoles and PC on August 2nd, giving players access to two new operators: Caveira and Capitão, both from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE). As usual, Season Pass holders will gain exclusive access for the first week of their release.

Each character has their own unique playstyle, with Capitão designed for offensive play and coming decked out with a crossbow that can asphyxiate enemies by burning oxygen within the bolt’s vicinity as well as micro smoke grenades. Capitão is also equipped with an M-249 and PARA-308 for his primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding out his available arsenal.

Caveira is, naturally, designed for defensive manoeuvres, possessing a “Silent Step” skill that allows her to sneak up on enemies, take them down and then interrogate them to reveal the locations of other players. Caveira comes equipped with an M12 and SPAS-15 for her primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.

A new map will also be available free to all players; featuring a level of destruction unparalleled by the other maps, this latest addition will be set in a Brazilian favela.

Ubisoft also announced the addition of a new custom game mode dubbed “Tactical Realism”. Removing the ability to mark enemies and kill confirmations, this mode will focus on realistic gunplay that requires reliance upon team communication and strategy to obtain the objective, with the HUD stripped down to the bare minimum.

A new surrender system will also be implemented, letting teams vote on surrendering during ranked matches but only prior to the third round.
