Nintendo announce Tatsumi Kimishima as new President

September 14, 2015

Following the unexpected death of Satoru Iwata two months ago, Nintendo has announced Tatsumi Kimishima will be the new company President.

Kimishima has been with Nintendo since 2000. In that year, Kimishima was appointed as Director of The Pokémon Company. He soon took the position of President of Nintendo America Inc. from 2002 to 2006, and then CEO until 2013. More recently, Kimishima has  served as Managing Director of Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda have also been appointed as “Creative Fellow” and “Technology Fellow”, respectively. Nintendo states the term “Fellow” refers to a select individual who holds advanced knowledge and extensive experience in their specialised area. Quite fitting for these two senior staff, then.

The staff changes will be in effect as of 16 September, 2015. Rocket Chainsaw would like to congratulate Kimishima on his new position and wish him the very best for the future.
