New Games This Week! – Rocket Chainsaw

November 10, 2014

New Games This Week! — And we’re back this week with a serious list of releases. Excuse the absence last week — I PAX’d and was incredibly exhausted (almost 60,000 steps across the three days!) and then got a fever when I flew back. Not fun. But here we are, and we’re keeping things short and sweet from now on.

Audio Technica ATH-PG1/ATH-PDG1 Headsets

Nov 11th

Exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PC, Audio Technica are releasing gaming-specific headsets and they are incredible. For those unaware of Audio Technica, they have been manufacturing premium audio products for years now, supplying the music industry with high quality gear. I unfortunately didn’t get to try them at PAX even though they did have a booth setup, but the feedback I heard was nothing short of positive.

EB Games has an odd pre-order bonus for both models, offering an Audio Technica branded snap-back cap, and a pair of Audio Technica Dip Earphones.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Nov 11th — MA15+ — Xbox One

Ooooh, pretty.

Ooooh, pretty.

Xbox’s biggest selling franchise has arrived on the Xbox One in the most beautiful collection to date. The Master Chief Collection has Halo 1 through to 4, all stunningly re-mastered for the Xbox One. It also includes access to the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta starting in December 2014. You can read our review of Halo: The Master Chief Collection here.

EB Games is offering the Bandana Skull as their pre-order bonus, which unlocks unlimited ammo and grenades for Halo 2 Anniversary campaign, and for once JB Hi-Fi has the better exclusive offering, giving customers who pre-order a map-book, a collection of every multiplayer map that is included in the Halo: Master Chief Collection, and the Grunt Funeral Skull. For those who have never played a Halo title before or for those who have forgotten, the Grunt Funeral Skull causes Grunts to explode into confetti upon death by headshot. It is absolutely brilliant.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015

Nov 13th — G — PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC.

Sportsball!

Sportsball!

The only rival to EA’s FIFA series has its yearly release due this week — Pro Evolution Soccer 2015. The PES series has always been a strong competitor, and this year it is no different.

With the new FOX Engine behind this next-gen PES, 2015 is boasting real-time lighting, seamless animations from movement-to-movement, unique animations and playing styles, and enhanced crowd animation.

Available from most retailers is the Team of the Year edition, offering players 10,000 Game Points, 10 recovery items to assist the fitness of your squad, and 1 player picked at random from the team voted by over 5 million people on UEFA.com. EB Games is also offering as an exclusive when pre-ordering either the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or PC versions, a Mario Gotze figurine.

Razer Chroma Series

Nov 13th — PC.

Leaders of PC hardware peripherals, Razer have released their three top-selling items in their main categories in a new Chroma series. Essentially they now come with rainbow coloured LEDs, and are inter-device synchronised, for those looking at buying the matching set. AMAZING.

The Razer BlackWidow Chroma Keyboard is boasting an incredible colour count of 16.8 million, providing you with almost endless customisation options. This link here gives you a neat little demonstration as to what the Chroma keyboard is visually capable of. This new BlackWidow also comes with the new Razer Mechanical Switches, designed to give gamers even more precision gaming than their products already do, giving players unparalleled speed and responsiveness.

ALL of the colours. ALL of them.

ALL of the colours. ALL of them.

The Razer DeathAdder Chroma Mouse is in the same boat as the keyboard – sporting the same 16.8 million colours as the keyboard, and can be synced with your other Chroma devices as well. The DeathAdder mouse is their top-selling gaming mouse, favoured by eSports athletes all around the world.

The favourite of many eSports athletes.

The last of the trio is the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma USB Headset, and again – this is their top-selling gaming headset, with the Chroma business all over it. Just as every other item in the Chroma series, it boasts the same 16.8 million colours as its brethren, and is also able to be colour-synced with your other Chroma devices.

Matchy matchy.

At this current time, there is no details on the release of the Razer Naga Epic Chroma, though it is listed on the Razer website with a “shipping November 2014” status.

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

Nov 13th — MA15+ — PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC.

Those are some pretty lights.

Those are some pretty lights.

The first of two Assassin’s Creed titles for the week, Rogue is for the previous-gen owners, being only released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Assassin’s Creed: Rogue takes the player through 18th century North America, and is the darkest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise to date — playing through the moments where you go from Assassin to Assassin Hunter, turning your back on your fellow Assassins.

JB Hi-Fi are offering the Commander DLC Pack (Master Commander Outfit, Morden Pistols, Master of the Seas Figurehead, and English Dragon Sword & Dagger) and the Officer DLC Pack (Officer outfit, wheel, sails, and German Wheelock Pistols) as their pre-order bonus, while EB Games has the exclusive Collector’s Edition, containing the game, collector’s box, artbook, official soundtrack, 3 lithograph prints, 2 single player missions, and the Templar DLC Pack.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Nov 13th — MA15+ — PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC.

Everything the light touches... But what about that shadowy place?

Everything the light touches… But what about that shadowy place?

Assassin’s Creed: Unity is run on the all new Anvil engine, giving players a true next-gen gaming experience. Set in 17th century during the French Revolution, play through the storming of Bastille to the execution of King Louis XVI. Parkour is now a proper thing you can do in Unity, in addition to enhanced combat and stealth gameplay.

For the first time ever in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Unity offers four-player online co-op through the main campaign. This is a huge addition to the franchise, and a feature I hope they keep for future titles.

There are three different versions of Unity available in Australia — the ANZ Special Edition, which is the stock standard Day One edition, the Bastille Edition, and the Notre Dame Edition. JB Hi-Fi is offering their exclusive Musketeer and Prussian DLC Packs with both the ANZ Special Edition and the Bastille Editions, while EB Games is only offering the exclusive Notre Dame edition.

The Wolf Among Us: A Telltale Games Series

Nov 14th — MA15+ — PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

You know, my dear, it isn't safe for a little girl to walk through these woods alone.

You know, my dear, it isn’t safe for a little girl to walk through these woods alone.

If you’re a stranger to the Telltale Game Series, you’re definitely missing out. They produce amazing episodic adventure games where every choice you make decides what happens in the next episode or three. One tiny change you make at the beginning of the series, will weigh heavy on the outcome at the end.

The Wolf Among Us takes place in a ghetto fairytale world, Fabletown. In Fabletown is every fairytale character you could imagine — The Big Bad Wolf, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Bluebeard, and more. Playing as the main character Bigby Wolf (The Big Bad Wolf), you save a prostitute one night who then lets on that your town isn’t as safe as it may seem, which is where the story then unfolds and begins.

PlayStation TV

Nov 14th

Much less bulk.

Much less bulk.

The PlayStation TV is a nifty little thing, and well worth the money if you ask me. The PlayStation TV acts as two different devices — it can be a second console in the bedroom for your PlayStation 4 remote play, or it can be an entirely new console with access to Sony’s extensive PSN library of PlayStation Vita, PS One, PSP titles, and much more. It also will have access to all music, movie, and entertainment apps that are available on the PSN.

CUT! That’s a wrap for this week’s installment! You’ve got a lot to choose from this week, what will you decide on getting? Let us know, give us a like on Facebook and a follow on Twitter, and I’ll be back next week.
