September 14, 2012

Hot off the back of Nintendo’s various Wii U extravaganza events around the world, German developer Shin’en (Nanostray, Jett Rocket) has announced Nano Assault Neo for the Wii U.

Australian and New Zealand gamers may or may not recognise the name Nano Assault. Built for the 3DS, the microscopic themed shoot-em-up never made its way out of release in North America of March this year. Though we are waiting for Nano Assault EX, an e-Shop enhanced title set to release globally in a few months.

Nano Assault Neo is an entirely new title set within the Nano Assault universe. Players will find similarly fast paced shooting gameplay against various microscopic organism. Shin’en is promising new game modes, a new scoring system including online rankings, a revised energy health system instead of one hit deaths, two player mode, and various other goodies. And, of course, Nano Assault Neo will make use of the Wii U GamePad for map readout and touch controls.

Nano Assault Neo is aiming to launch on the Wii U e-Shop sometime around launch. Check out the first trailer below.
