Someone should get around to plugging these leaks, because it seems like every other week some website accidentally spoils an announcement before it was supposed to be official. This week it is downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, specifically a multiplayer focused pack called ‘Rebellion’.
Leaked over on the official PlayStation Asia website (once found here, though now removed, but not before we saw the goods), the Rebellion pack looks to add the following:
- Two new maps: Firebase Jade, a jungle resort, and Firebase Goddess, based on Thessia.
- Three new weapons, as well as new equipment and consumables.
- Six new classes: Quarian Infiltrator and Engineer, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, and Phoenix Adept and Vanguard.
Similar to the ‘Resurgence’ pack, ‘Rebellion’ seems to add two new playable races: the Vorcha, who were first introduced and mostly used as an enemy in Mass Effect 2, and the mysterious ‘Phoenix’. No known race in the Mass Effect universe goes by the title of Phoenix, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the species turned out to be based on the character that appears in the ‘From Ashes’ DLC pack. We won’t spoil it right now, but those who’ve played Mass Effect 3 will know.
Interestingly, both the Quarian Infiltrator and Engineer already exist. Listing them as new to the DLC pack may be implying male Quarian variants will be selectable for these classes, as currently only the female model is available.
The original posting on PlayStation Asia listed the DLC pack as ‘now available’ for that region, though we suspect it was a mistake. For now, we await an official announcement from BioWare.

If they are the quarian infiltrator and engineer its likely that they are male. A few other sites have reported them as turian as well.
If you go to the upper left part the the galaxy, in one of those clusters that you can enter(near the end of the game I believe) there is a system with 2 planets within the hospitable zone of the star. One of the planets is mostly water and supposedly had a race supposedly like the Hanar that the reapers decided were “too smart” and got rid of them.
On the other planet there was a race of “An Avian Species that was in its bronze age” and the reapers decided they were “too smart” as well and got rid of them by orbitally bombarding the planet until they were gone, way back in the Prothean times.
I believe the Avian species they exterminated back in he Prothean times to be the “Pheonix” race they are adding in the Rebellion DLC as a “What if the reapers didn’t kill them” scenario.
