Fireforge Games Files for Bankruptcy

August 3, 2016

According to Kotaku, Fireforge Games (the studio behind the just released Ghostbusters game) have filed for bankruptcy. This comes just over 2 weeks after the game was released in Australia, painting an extremely bleak picture of the studios financial situation during the development of Ghostbusters.

Prior to developing Ghostbusters, which was potentially only given an 8 month development time, Fireforge began work on and cancelled two separate MOBAs in their 5 year history. These likely represent the large reason as to why they have now had to file for bankruptcy.

Videogame production can be an extremely volatile industry, as with any small business, but it’s always sad to see people lose their jobs as companies go out of business. We wish everyone at Fireforge our best and hope they land on their feet.
