Final Fantasy XIII Isn’t Done Yet

July 6, 2012

In case the ending of Final Fantasy XIII-2 had you wondering, director Motomu Toriyama has come out and said that we can expect to see more from the series. FFXIII-2 had a stream of varied DLC released for it, with the last piece ‘Requiem of the Goddess’ being released in May. Speaking with Famitsu yesterday, Toriyama said:

The FFXIII-2 Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off.

So, an extra reason to pick up that final piece of DLC, perhaps? That comment sounds like a hint at a Final Fantasy XIII-3 game, a sequel whose existence would be fairly unsurprising. The unannounced game is likely to be unveiled at the upcoming Final Fantasy 25th anniversary event, which begins in Japan on the 31st of August. Toriyama made the above statement when asked whether we can expect something Final Fantasy XIII related at the event. In the meantime, Square-Enix are continuing to work away at Final Fantasy Versus XIII, whose six year development period is still ongoing.
