Marco Reus chosen for FIFA 17’s Cover

July 22, 2016

After two weeks of voting, the FIFA 17 Cover Vote has come to an end, as EA has officially announced the chosen winner – Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund.

Reus will adorn the covers of FIFA 17 copies globally, beating other ambassadors James Rodriguez of Real Madrid, Anthony Martial of Manchester United and Eden Hazard of Chelsea.

Reus, who recently was named captain of Dortmund, conveyed his gratitude for being featured in a press release from EA, where the announcement was made.

“I’m honored to join a very distinguished group of footballers to appear on the cover of FIFA,” said Reus. “Most of all I am humbled that the fans have chosen me, and I will strive to make them proud with my performance on the pitch.”

“It is incredible to see how fans get behind their favorite player – Marco plays for a great club, is really fun to watch, and he is very popular in FIFA Ultimate Team, so it makes a lot of sense that the fans picked him,” said Nick Channon, Senior Producer for FIFA.

EA Sports’ FIFA 17 will be released in Australia and New Zealand on 29 September on PS4, Xbox One, Origin for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
