Easter Sunday Gaming News – 31/3/2013

March 31, 2013

It’s Chocolate Egg Appreciation Day, but that doesn’t mean the news stops!

  • Hardware is a new game from former staff of Relic, best known for the Homeworld games. The game is entering closed beta soon, and Blackbird Interactive have released this short trailer to whet our appetites:

  • It turns out that the Warzone multiplayer mode from the first three Gears of War games is also on the disc of Gears of War: Judgment. Players have discovered that using a certain button combination will enable a fully-playable version of the mode using the maps from Gears of War 3. Microsoft have confirmed that the code was left over from that game, and that there are no plans to make it an official addition to the game.
  • The controversy surrounding a post-GDC party hosted by IGDA continues today, with Yetizen, the party’s organisers, now saying that everything that happened at the party, including the costumes worn by female dancers, was approved by IGDA. IGDA, on the other hand, say that that they did not see or approve all the costumes used at the party, however. The incident has led to the resignation of several high-profile IGDA members, and the withdrawal of support for the organisation from a number of independent studios and organisations. It has also tarnished a GDC that was notable for excellent panels on the role and status of women in the video game industry.
