Driveclub VR to be a PlayStation VR launch title in Japan

July 30, 2016

While Sony have removed the post from their official Japanese blog, for a time an update briefly existed that confirmed Driveclub VR as a launch title for the PlayStation VR, on the peripherals release on 13 October in Japan. While that post no longer exists, a translated screengrab and the news was picked up by outlets such as Engadget, among others.

Paul Rustchynsky, a developer from the original game’s team Evolution, has made several tweets which also seem to confirm the title’s existence, and the inclusion of new tracks. Evolution was shuttered by Sony following the disappointing sales of Driveclub, a title that faced numerous issues.

An early VR version of the original game was demoed at games shows last year – whether Driveclub VR is an evolution of that concept, a remastering or a new title completely is still unknown. If the announcement holds true not only for Japan, but other territories as well, we could very well be finding out the answer for ourselves come the PSVR’s launch on 13 October.
