Doom DLC Dated Plus New Update and Double XP Weekend Details

July 29, 2016

It’s a major weekend for Doom fans, with a double XP event kicking off tonight and lasting until Monday as well as Bethesda dropping a massive update that’ll add a ton of “improvements to the Community HUB, Editor and logic capabilities”.

Besides the numerous tweaks, the update will also add two new multiplayer modes – Objective based capture and defend mode “Sector” and a capture-the-flag mode dubbed “Exodus”. Players will also be able to use the Mancubus as a playable character as well as take advantage of the newly refined Snapmap editor, which will finally feature customisable wheel functionality.

As if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, Bethesda has also announced that Doom’s first Multiplayer focused DLC will be available from August 5th. Including three new maps, new armour sets and customization options, the UAC EMG Pistol and the Kinetic mine, players will also be able to take control of a new demon called the Harvester. Also included will be new hack modules and a feature called “PartyPlay, which will let players who don’t purchase the DLC to still play on the maps as long as they join a party with someone who does own it.

The new DLC will be available to those who have purchased the Season Pass as well as available for separate purchase.

Bethesda explains “If a DLC map comes up as part of the rotation, you and your party can play just as you have with the game’s original multiplayers maps. Conversely, if you have purchased the premium DLC pack, anyone in your party can play any of the maps from the DLC as long as they’re with you.”

Pack your flame retardant man-pants and get ready to take on the hordes of Hell once again!
