Two big Xbox One OS updates on the way

February 6, 2014

Post-launch operating system updates: a road all next generation systems must walk. And the last generation, too.

As expected, Microsoft has revealed the first details on the next two OS updates for their Xbox One console. Apparently the update is kind of considered one update split over two release dates. Or something like that. Either way, boot up your Xbox One on the appropriate dates to download the goodies.

February 11: This major update aims to improve the overall Xbox One stability and performance, such as improved Kinect response commands and so on. Users will finally be able to fully view and control their storage space, seeing how much data individual apps are taking up, juggle app install lineups, and manage download queues. My Games and My Apps introduces two separate lists for you to organise content. A battery power indicator has returned so you can see how much life is left in your peripherals. And USB keyboards will now be usable with the Xbox One interface.

March 4: This update is aimed at Titanfall, called the “systems update”. It promises to offer significant improvements and additions to the Xbox One’s party chat and multiplayer networking in order to deliver the best Titanfall experience possible. Keeping cards close to their chest, Microsoft isn’t quite ready to reveal what, exactly, those improvements and additions will be. Streaming? Who knows.

Again, be sure to boot up your Xbox One and log in to the LIVE network on the above dates to update your system software.
