New Games This Week! – Rocket Chainsaw

October 13, 2014

New Games This Week! — It is that time once again (because you know, totally justifiable saying that when this is only the second post…) where I give y’all the lowdown on this week’s big releases in the Australian gaming world.

The Evil Within

October 16th — MA 15+ — Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC.

Hello? You okay buddy?

Hello? You okay buddy?

Tango Gameworks and Bethesda’s most anticipated release for the year is here! The Evil Within is a survival horror game based around veteran police detective Sebastian Castellanos and his story, as he investigates a gruesome mass murder and the events following. Ambushed and knocked unconscious, Castellanos awakens in a horrific and terrifying world where nightmares are born — queue the fight for your own survival against the unknown.

EB Games are offering their exclusive Limited Edition containing The Fighting Chance Pack (medical kit, poison agony bolt, double barrel shotgun and three shells, incendiary agony bolt and green gel), 3D lenticular art card, and Sebastian’s Diary which includes images from the game. JB Hi-Fi is offering (as a pre-order bonus, however more than likely there will be spares upon release!) a soundtrack, photo set, and The Fighting Chance Pack.

Xbox One Standalone Kinect Sensor

October 16th — Xbox One.

It sort of looks like a cute smile. Sort of.

It sort of looks like a cute smile. Sort of.

Pretty straight forward — the Kinect Sensor available standalone for those who bought the bundle without, and now obviously want to play Just Dance.

F1 2014

October 16th — Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC.

I would love to see Formula One cars race on a rally track.

I would love to see Formula One cars race on a rally track.

The popular long time running Formula 1 racing series has unleashed its latest offering to the racing community. F1 2014 boasts a boot full of new tracks including the new Spielberg circuit in Austria, the new Sochi Autodrom circuit in Russia, the latest cars and drivers from the F1 season, improved physics and refined handling, and loads more. Experienced F1 players can also fine-tune the settings to enhance their experience, delivering a more realistic F1 experience.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed

October 16th — M — PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 (PlayStation 4 TBA 2015).

No! Not Hatsune/Leek Girl!

No! Not Hatsune/Leek Girl!

I really wish I could enjoy JRPGs, because this one sounds just delightful. Set in AkihabaraJapan’s most popular destination for everything that we love — the precinct has been invaded by creatures similar to vampires, “Synthisters”, feasting on their social energy and general will to live. Of course, being similar to vampires, these creatures can only be stopped by direct exposure to the glorious sun and — this is the best bit — the only way to do that is to strip their clothes off. Yep. Strip them off. How is this only rated M?

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

October 16th — MA15+ — Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC.

These are your characters, who will you choose?

These are your characters, who will you choose?

An entire game based off the story behind Handsome Jack — the handsome villain from Borderlands 2. It takes place somewhere between the original Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and is also on Pandora’s moon. YAY MOON GRAVITY!

As always with Borderlands, on offer is a bunch of new badass weapons with ice and laser capabilities, badass enemies, badass storyline, and new badass characters. And you play as a combat-ready Claptrap!

JB Hi-Fi is offering (once again, as a pre-order bonus but more than likely, there will be spares on day one) the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit DLC. EB Games is also offering the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit DLC (which I had to double check, because the less word-savvy people might understand that as their exclusive bonus, which it is now) and as an their exclusive, the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! MetalPak, which from my quick internet sleuthing, is just a steel book case.

Hulk – Disney Infinity 2.0 Figure

October 16th — Disney Infinity 2.0

I would have liked him more green.

I would have liked him more green.

Get ready parents — the next figure from Disney Infinity 2.0 that your child so desperately needs is here!

Astro 2nd Generation Headsets

A38 Bluetooth Headset

Personally, I prefer the Steel Grey.

Personally, I prefer the Steel Grey.

This is the headset you want for when you not only want quality sounding wireless headphones for your everyday life, but also proudly want to display your love and support for Astro Gaming. Because honestly — who doesn’t love Astro?

Combining state-of-the-art Noise Cancelling technologies and aptX Low Latency Bluetooth, the A38 is built for quality mobile audio — designed and tuned for mobile gaming, music and voice-com. Farewell, unsightly 3.5mm cords.

They come with standard tags, however you can purchase themed ones from various retailers, as well as create a custom pair. Great for those of you who enjoy having a unique look (and a great way to showcase your personal gaming identity!).

Available in either white or black. If you’re after technical specs, just scroll down to the bottom of this post.

Here is a video of some peeps rockin’ them on the streets of the oh so gorgeous San Francisco.

A40 Wired Headset

Pretty. So, so pretty.

Pretty. So, so pretty.

The wired A40 headset is an upgraded version of its predecessor. With improved tuning and build design, the new A40 has received an overall improvement and upgrade to its quality and comfort. The A40 model also has customizable speaker tags, like the A38.

Available in Steel Grey or White, this model can be purchased in two bundles — standalone or with the MixAmp Pro. It is only compatible with PC and Mac if purchased standalone, and compatible with PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 is purchased with the MixAmp Pro. Technical specs are available at the bottom of this post.

That’s it for this week! I’ll be back next Monday with another round of things you should throw your money at.
